Izwi Lomphakathi News

Newcastle, the third-largest city in KwaZulu-Natal, is the province’s industrial hub. Known as the “City of Industries,” it has four industrial areas and is divided by the N11 Road into Newcastle East (Madadeni and Osizweni townships) and Newcastle West. Located at the foothills of the northern KwaZulu-Natal Drakensberg Mountains along the Ncandu River, Newcastle is the seat of the local municipality and the Amajuba District Municipality. The municipal area covers 188 square kilometres, making it South Africa’s 15th-largest city, with 34 wards. The N11 and R34 are the main roads connecting Newcastle to the rest of the country.
