The Eastern Cape Women’s Magazine (LSM 1-8) is a bilingual (Xhosa and English) small commercial provincial magazine founded by a community journalist to create a platform for Eastern Cape women to showcase their development initiatives. Established in 2006 and officially launched in 2007 by Mrs. Zoleka Capa, Executive Mayor of O.R. Tambo District Municipality, the magazine operates from offices in Lusikisiki, at the Zalu Hills Multipurpose Center donated by the Department of Public Works, and in Mthatha, at the Walter Sisulu University premises. Despite lacking a current funder or sponsor, the magazine has produced three issues with the support of businesswomen committed to its success. Its main objectives are to profile the work of women in the Eastern Cape, particularly those involved in rural development, and to promote a culture of reading and writing among the province’s residents.
